Don’t get me started. Education has been, will be, and always seems to be changing for better or worse. Kids across the world are learning absolutely, but learning what. The content that filters through our classrooms is insane. If you teach Elementary it’s the spectrum, and if you teach Middle School/High School the content becomes much more specific but grandiose.
You walk into my 1st-grade classroom in Minneapolis, Minnesota you work on reading, math, writing, history, the works, but the curriculum revolves around what? Usually, what your school deems successful? What does this mean? How can a classroom in Minneapolis be successful with one set of curriculum, the town over be successful with a different curriculum, and China has something completely different. Why is teaching such a cluster fuck?
How have we not figured out what works in the 21st century? You would think with numerous successes, failures, outstanding countries, countries literally becoming educational disasters, that humanity would come together and say, “hey! this works.”
